This was my second trip to Kashmir. The beauty of the valley is so mesmerizing that I can never say no to Kashmir. But of course you’d like to do something new every time you visit a place on a vacation. Having seen almost all the tourist spots in Kashmir, last time when I came on a Kashmir Amritsar holiday package, I decided to do something new this time.
My friend and I both decided to book a houseboat for a relaxed vacation. Our agenda was simple, relax, enjoy the beauty and let life go on a real slow pace. And so the program was clear – stay in a houseboat, enjoy its services and go out strolling to nearby places. Of course this doesn’t mean we missed out on any of our shopping which we had planned!
The houseboat was beautifully done up, lovely carvings, carpets, drapery, all lavish with real royal treatment. Our breakfast, lunch, dinner was all arranged. The first day we got up late, had a nice breakfast while catching up on all the gossip, got ready to visit the nearby market, shopped, had lunch and came back to the houseboat. In the evening we went to stroll along the Nagin Lake. Did I mention our houseboat was on the Nagin Lake?
Well in Kashmir houseboats are either in the Nagin Lake or Dal Lake. We made an online booking of the houseboat and liked this one on the Nagin Lake. It was also within our budget.
Coming back to our trip, the second day was spent visiting the beautiful Dal Lake. Well actually we had a lot of time in hand but were not in a hurry to cover any places like our previous Kashmir Amritsar holiday package trip. We had lunch in our houseboat. TV was available so the afternoon was spent enjoying a nice Shahrukh Khan flick. And the evening tea was at the deck upstairs amidst beautiful surroundings and a cool breeze.
Third day was our checkout. It was a nice time we spent, unwinding and relaxing, better than even the best holiday packages for Kashmir. Of course, those of you who haven’t been to Kashmir will not like to spend your time like this because there is lots to see and enjoy in the valley.
